I wrote this about Sarah when she was two.

“Sarah invites me in, “Coat…off… Gramma Sue…boots…off”. I head for the big chair and she crawls up beside me. We sit there, cuddling in silence for awhile. Then she fills me in on the news, “Mommy work…Daddy sanding”. She nods emphatically with each phrase, looking me in the eye, making close connection. Speech has come early for Sarah. I’m constantly amazed at the workings of her brain, the awareness, the understanding of how life is and the curiosity to learn more. Sarah reminds me not to make assumptions about anyone’s ability to learn.”

Sarah‘s been a theatre kid most of her life. Our conversations now cover creative stuff – her work in theater, crocheting, felting. I still love to watch the way her brain works and look forward to our regular monthly chats.
